Pilgrim Lutheran Church & School (part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) is at 39th and 1st Av. S. in South Minneapolis. The church, built of light stone with a slate roof, offers both traditional and contemporary worship and Bible studies. The school offers experiential learning for children from preschool through grade 8. The school also provides a computer lab, a full athletic program, music instruction in various instruments and a childcare program before and after school.
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School started with a modes 115 students all the way back in 1949. OLG School has since grown to a student population of more than 700. The school's staff concentrates on assessing individual needs of every student and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence through teaching focused on Gospel values.
Our Lady of Grace has been the recipient of a number of awards both locally and nationally, including two National Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education in 2001 and 2009. The award is one of the highest honors a school can earn. OLG also nabbed a Distinguished Principal Award in 2002 from the National Catholic Education Association.
This office is the district administration building for the Wayzata Public Schools system. It oversees all of the elementary, middle and high school education programs for students throughout the Minneapolis metropolitan area which includes all or part of Corcoran, Maple Grove, Medicine Lake, Medina, Minnetonka, Orono, Plymouth and Wayzata.
Located in Fridley, Woodcrest Baptist Church is a religious institution dedicated to providing its members with educational and spiritual resources. The church hosts a variety of ministries for adults and children and operates Woodcrest Baptist Academy for students in pre-school through 12th grade.
Woodcrest Elementary School is located in Fridley but is part of the Spring Lake Park School District. It draws students from Blaine, Fridley and Spring Lake Park. In 2009, classrooms were renovated as part of a district bonding project.
Highlands Elementary School is flanked by a number of natural areas and tree cover, located in the middle of a welcoming residential neighborhood. Edina green is present throughout the building, indicative of the amount of pride both students and staff take in their school. The school boasts an outdoor garden, rain garden and several natural areas where students both play and learn.
Highlands is one of six elementary schools in the Edina School District, serving students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2005 by the U.S. Department of Education. Parents are given the option of sending their children through a continuous progress model, a district-wide alternative program with multi-age and multi-grade classes, or a discovery program, where students have the same teacher for first and second grades and then switch to another instructor for third and fourth grades.
Spring Lake Park High School teaches children in the Fridley area who are in ninth through 12th grades. The high school's curriculum is designed around preparing its students for college and offers classes in the following subjects: math, language arts, Social Studies, science, foreign language, health, physical education, art, music, business and technology. Special education and gifted programs are available.
