Utica High School is located at the corner of 21 Mile and Shelby Roads, across the street from Switzer Elementary School. More than 1,300 tenth through twelfth grade students attend the school. The Chieftains are known for their excellence in curriculum and sports. The school offers students a wide variety of extracurricular activities and clubs to join.
Shelby University is a full-time and part-time childcare center that accepts children ages six weeks old to 12 years old. The 13,000-sq. foot facility has a large indoor and outdoor play area and can hold as many as 163 children. The staff prides itself in security and high-tech features such as access cards to enter and exit the building and a web cam that allows parents to view their children online. Meals are provided to the children at no extra cost.
St. Lawrence Church, which sits on 15-acres near the Utica border, is made up of the present church, rectory, school and cemetery. Founded in 1886, St. Lawrence was the first Catholic Church in Utica. The State of Michigan recognized it as the oldest religious community in the city. The school, which opened in 1931, was originally run by nuns. Now, the school is taught by teachers and its curriculum focuses on word, sacrament and service. Nearly 800 students attend in grades preschool through 8th.
Wiley Elementary serves nearly 600 students in kindergarten through sixth grade and offers classes for preschool- and nursery-age children.
In addition to general education, Wiley offers a learning center and programs such as academically talented, math tutor, latchkey, band, strings and kinderday programs.
W.A.T.T.S. is Wiley's Academically Talented and Gifted Program. Students in W.A.T.T.S. participate in programs such as the Science Olympiad, Social Studies Olympiad, Mission Impossible and the Michigan Quiz Bowl.
Eppler Junior High School is one of seven junior highs in the Utica Community Schools District. It's nestled in the back of a downtown Utica neighborhood.
The school is known for its high test scores, distinct extracurricular programs and Cheiftan sports.
Beacon Tree Elementary School is the Utica Community School District's largest elementary school, with 99,000 square feet.The school is broken up into two instructional wings -- one for kindergarten through third grade and the other for fourth through sixth grade. More than 750 students attend the school, which prides itself in the use of design and technology. The school was named after a Beacon Tree a few miles west of the school's current location. The tree served as a post along the Underground Railroad, a shelter for runaway slaves during their journey to freedom. A red cedar tree is planted at the entrace of the school to remind the students of the brave people who sought freedom.
Trinity Lutheran Church has been serving the community in Utica since 1882. From the church's humble beginings, it has grown to about 4,000 congregants and a school that teaches about 500 students a year.
The school, which credits itself with preparing students with skills to be a leader in the Christian community, offers pre-school and K - 8 programs. It also offers child care, Young 5's, (preschool and K-8 programs).

West Utica Elementary School was named after the area it has been serving since it opened in 1958. Nearly 600 kindergarten through sixth grade students attend the school. There are also programs for preschool and nursery age children.

West Utica is a Michigan Blue Ribbon school, which the state uses to identify outstanding public schools.
Monfort Elementary School can be found at the end of a quaint tree-lined road inside a Shelby Township neighborhood. The school serves nearly 750 kindergarten through sixth grade students and has been recognized at the state and national level for its academic excellence. Monfort has participated in several pilot programs for children with special needs. Core, which is a program for autistic children, was first launched at Monfort Elementary School.
Chrissman Elementary School is nestled inside of a tree-lined subdivision off 24 Mile Road. The school is home to the mighty Cougars and serves nearly 650 kindergarten through sixth grade students. It is a Michigan Blue Ribbon School that strives for academic excellence. Parents and students are actively involved in extra curricular and academic programs.
More than 830 students attend Duncan Elementary School. Duncan educates children from preschool through sixth grade. The 28th elementary school in the district opened in 2002. It's named after Richard J. Duncan, an area businessman and community supporter. Duncan is a founding member and five-time president of the Utica Community Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence. The school has an award-winning curriculum and opportunities for students to participate in many clubs.
Peace Lutheran Church & School has been teaching families and students about peace and Christinity since 1967. More than 600 congregants attend church weekly, and more than 200 students attend the K–8th grade school. The school's early childhood department offers several programs for children under five. The school is open to all students who desire a personalized education that stresses high academic standards and Christian-based values. Financial aid is available to needy students.
More than 50 percent of Flickinger Elementary School students can walk to the school, which is in a quaint Utica neighboorhood. The school, which opened in 1967 with twelve classrooms, has grown to include another fourteen classrooms, a gymnasium, research/media center, and includeds a recently completed addition of a suite of rooms dedicated to science, art, and music instruction. The school was founded by Walter Flickinger, a local businessman, who had served on the UCS Board of Education for 21 years at the time of the building's dedication.
