Led by principal Joanne Stocklin, Richer's philosophy is that "teaching and learning extends beyond the classroom walls." This is a public school, and it teaches state mandated curriculum. This year the school implemented a "big buddy" program that pairs staff members of the school, other than their homeroom teacher, with students. This means that throughout the school day, staff will take the time to invest in their buddies, and help them where needed and appropriate.
The Sergeant Charles J. Jaworek School is home to nearly 600 elementary students (grades one to three) in the city of Marlborough. With a full curriculum aligned with state-mandated standards, the Kane School annually educates approximately 500 students in kindergarten through third grade. Full day kindergarten is available for tuition and the program is accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children. MCAS preparation classes are offered for grade 3 students and according to 2009 test results this grade has outperformed district and state averages.
