Started in the early 90s, this lottery-funded child care center offers services for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. Every teacher on staff must complete around 20 hours of training each year in CPR, first aid and fire safety. The low turnover rate for its employees means many teachers have been working here for more than 10 years. There is a playground in the back and a covered drop-off area. It also features elementary school pick-up and drop-off services.
In 2005, Governor Perdue signed a law creating the state's first new four-year, public college in more than 100 years. Just one year later, Georgia Gwinnett College opened its doors. Now there are nearly 3,000 students from all over Georgia and the world working toward one of 12 degrees in fields including biology, information technology and criminal justice.
Part of the Archer Cluster, this elementary school is named for the one-time Assistant Superintendent of Personnel for the Gwinnett County School System, Edwin Lovin. One highlight of Lovin Elementary is its three computer labs and a video production lab.
Mountain View High School is a public high school and a part of the Gwinnet County Public Schools system. It serves approximately 1,700 students in grades 9-12. The school was founded in 2009. It follows standard state curriculum, and offers extracurricular clubs and activities. The athletics program is strong, and Bears football team is a rival of the Archer High School Tigers.
Bellbrook Child Development Center is a learning and childcare facility that accepts children from infancy to school age. All staff members are trained in first aid, CPR, nutrition and fire safety. There is a covered drop-off and pick-up area. There are daily activity sheets and memos for parents, along with special outings and events. Children engage in age-appropriate activities in the arts, science, mathematics and reading, along with outdoor playground activities.
Part of the Berkmar Cluster, the original Bethesda Elementary School opened its doors in July of 1905. Renovations on the current school were completed in 2000 and now BES has more than 168,000 square feet with 60 classrooms, a media center, math lab, parent center and more.
Woodward Mill Elementary School is part of the Gwinnett County Public School system. It provides instruction for students in kindergarten through the fifth grade. Barbara Ergle is the principal.
Opened in 2011, Moore Middle School provides academic instruction to children in grades six through eight. The school's curriculum offers language arts, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education and technology education classes. Students can also partake in a variety of clubs, organizations and sports teams.
