Kehillah High School is an accredited private high school closely tied to the Jewish community. Just across the street from Palo Alto JCC, Kehillah promotes Jewish values such as chesed (loving kindness), emet (pursuit of truth) and hakarat hatov (gratitude) in all aspects of community life. The school prides itself on academic rigor, while maintaining a robust offering of extracurricular activities, from performing arts to sports and community service.
Hays Walter Elementary School, home of the Wildcats, is a feeder school to Jordan Junior High School and Palo Alto High School. Hays Walter School is part of the Palo Alto Unified School District. The school has high-quality playground areas and is next to a city park.
The staff at St. Michael's Alley are open, friendly and happy to spark up pleasant conversation with customers. The restaurant opened in 1959 and features a relaxing atmosphere with a large outdoor patio and well-lit dining room. The bar area is decorated in earthy, warm colors and has a beautiful solid wood bar top. The restaurant is striking in its elegant design and atmosphere.
Note that a satellite restaurant serves weekend brunch, in addition to hosting private events. It's located nearby at 806 Emerson Street.
Walter Hays Kids' Club (WHKC), a program of Palo Alto Community Child Care (PACCC), is located in the back of Walter Hays School. There is a large playground with creative and unique equipment, as well as a wide area of black top and field where kids can run around. The school shares its play area with the WHKC program.
Serving Palo Alto Families since 1955, Friends Nursery School is a non-sectarian nursery school. Located in front of The Friends Meeting of Palo Alto on Colorado Avenue with plenty of parking, it specializes in younger children from ages 3 to 5. A nice playground and trees make this a great place to learn.
Hoover offers a more structured alternative to the standard elementary curriculum found in other PAUSD schools. Emphasizing basic academic skills and good study habits, Hoover aims to instill a sense of responsibility, confidence, pride in accomplishment, and a positive self-image in its students. One distinguishing characteristic of Hoover is the strictly enforced behavioral environment, which is kept quiet and orderly. The school also assigns homework for K-5 students.
