The Alice Independent School District governs elementary, middle and high schools. It serves more than 5,200 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The district opened its first school in 1888 and works in partnership with community members to improve self-esteem, moral values, problem solving abilities and communication skills in its students. It operates through various departments, including curriculum, business, maintenance, special education, federal programs, gifted and talented, and testing and accountability. The Alice Independent School District offers meal, transportation and human resources services. Its schools provide classes in math, social studies, science, English and physical education. The district also imparts instruction in art, music and computer technology through its schools.
