The College Internship Program helps men and women with Asperger’s Syndrome, dyslexia, learning disabilities and attention deficient disorder to obtain the career and life skills needed in order to thrive. It has a career program for students enrolled in college, as well as individual clinical therapy and wellness group sessions. College Internship Program also provides assistance with social skills development and academic support through a wide variety of classes and modules. Furthermore, College Internship Program has a special travel program where students can travel to places like England, Mexico and the Caribbean for one week out of the year.
This Berkeley center was designed for the needs of kids with hearing impairment and offers a preschool in which instruction is given both in English and in sign language; there are also programs to teach "total communication." This approach involves the use of speech, sign language and hearing aids and develops a customized education for each child based on their needs and learning style. The Via Center provides moderately to severely developmentally disabled adults educational and therapeutic programs designed to maximize their chances of success in the outside world. It focuses mostly on vocational and life skills, including social skills. The Center also operates an adult residence in El Cerrito where residents practice self-management and attend programs.
