Not to be confused with the other Zion Lutheran Church on Brownsville Road (which is actually in Brentwood Borough), the North Zion Lutheran Church has its own identity. Indeed, North Zion serves a number of area churchgoers with its 9am Sunday mass and 10:30am Sunday school, among other activities. The organization, set near an area cemetery, also runs a pre-school and is the Base Camp for the local Boy Scouts of America Troop 338. The pre-school started in 1964 and serves children from ages 3-5, but North Zion itself was founded in 1800.
Sr. Thea Bowman Catholic Academy is operated under the St. James Roman Catholic Church parish. The elementary school offers a comprehensive education that interwines the values of the Catholic faith along with prayer in the classroom in lessons and everyday life.

The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park welcomes children from kindergarten to fourth grade to take part in an education centered and beginning with learning to love the earth and nature. It is the first environmentally themed school in Allegheny County.
Hiland Child Care Center is located along Perry Highway in Perrysville. It offers a full range of child care services for newborns to grade school-age kids. It offers school pick-up and drop off to a number of local elementary schools, a summer camp program and many other interactive and educational activities, such as field trips to local museums. Inside, this multi-level facility is a full gymnasium, a dedicated infant room and a section set aside as the "science center." Center Elementary School is one of five elementary schools in the Plum Borough School district. This location, as with all Plum Borough Schools, has a strict ban on both bullying and cyber bulling. They have both breakfast and lunch available for their students throughout the school year. Before looking into enrollment at this facility, there are immunizations that are required by state law. Brookline Regional Catholic School serves the following parishes: St. Pius X, Church of the Resurrection and Our Lady of Loreto. There are three schools at BRC, the primary school serves kindergarten through third grades, the intermediate school serves fourth through sixth grades and the upper school serves seventh through eighth grades. The curriculum includes religion, language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, fine arts and computer. InnerBeat Drum School is a training facility that offers musical instruction and classes for the drums, piano and guitar. Private and group lessons are available to sign up for.
