Started in the early 90s, this lottery-funded child care center offers services for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. Every teacher on staff must complete around 20 hours of training each year in CPR, first aid and fire safety. The low turnover rate for its employees means many teachers have been working here for more than 10 years. There is a playground in the back and a covered drop-off area. It also features elementary school pick-up and drop-off services.
This Sunshine House is a local branch of a national child care chain that has been in business more than 35 years. It is lottery funded and offers different curricula for different age groups. Teachers are professionally qualified and complete yearly training courses. There are also after-school activities for school-aged children, including science projects, music, 4-H and more. There are a number of classrooms inside as well as a fenced-in playground area.
Part of the Archer Cluster, this elementary school is named for the one-time Assistant Superintendent of Personnel for the Gwinnett County School System, Edwin Lovin. One highlight of Lovin Elementary is its three computer labs and a video production lab.
This school offers basic driving services including first time drivers' education classes and classes in defensive driving.
Oakland Meadow serves special needs students ages 3 to 21. Oakland Meadow's programs have received local, state and national recognition. This school replaces Oakland Center, founded in 1978. The current location, adjoining the Holt Elementary School, opened in July 2007. The two schools share a cafeteria and often participate in activities together, allowing students to learn about differences.
Kids R Kids is part of a chain of pre-schools with locations across the country. It is a locally-owned and operated franchise, offering classes for pre-school children and infants, as well as after-school instruction and summer camps for children up to the age of 12. Kids R Kids provides transportation to and from Benefield, Bethesda, Corley, Kanoheda and Sweetwater Middle School.
Owner and operator John LaMattina began the LaMattina Drum Studio in 1968 in Long Island, New York. LaMattina has been a drum instructor for more than four decades. He plays professionally and is currently the leader of the Atlanta-New York Connection and the drummer/MC for the Atlanta Blue Notes. He offers individualized lessons in two separate studios designed to provide students with total percussion training. Fees are $68 per month.
Kids R Kids is a day care and children's learning center. This large facility offers programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. It has before- and after-school programs and summer camps. The facility also has a play area.
Agape Junior Academy is a small Christian school located near the center of Lawrenceville. The school serves children in grades K through eight. Agape is a candidate for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). It is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).
