Located in Wallingford, Conn., Highland Elementary School educates more than 400 students in kindergarten through grade five. Splat Art Studio on North Colony Road was started by Kate McNamee to help others explore the artist within themselves. Her love for creating things started at a very young age, and she enjoys passing along her knowledge to others so that they too can get their creative juices flowing and create something beautiful. There are classes for all age groups and interests. Splat Art Studio also hosts events and ladies nights.

With its large classrooms and extra generous outdoor space, Building Blocks Learning Center offers its children an excellent balance of an educational curriculum inside and creative, physical play outside.

Programs begin with the infangs, children ages 6 weeks-13 months old, where the children are exposed to music, story time, gross motor activities and one on one interaction.

The toddler program (ages 13 months to 3 years) focuses on building the childrens social and verbal skills through weekly themed programs, show and tell, sign language and free play.

In preschool (ages 3-5) the curriculum revolves around hands on activities, as well as science, language, social studies and math, preparing them for the next step of Kindergarten. Activities such as gymnastics, karate are also offered, as well as field trips for the 4 years olds.

Building Blocks also provides a full day Kindergarten program exposing children to science, social studies, math, reading, language, field trips, computers and reading all in preparation for first grade.

For the school aged children, the Center has a library/media center featuring books, educational videos, and computer access. There are also areas set aside for homework and outside time.

Little Zion Preschool is located on the beautiful, spacious grounds of the Zion Lutheran Church. Also sponsored by the church, this private preschool offers an educational program for children ages 3-5 years old that focuses on intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development.

The school offers several programs including one for 3-year olds centering on pre-writing skills, reading, crafts, music, socialization, religious time, outdoor play and science activities. Extra activities include events such as Pajama Day and a Barn Dance. 

The 4-year old program works towards the goal of Kindergarten readiness with music, religious time, crafts, and introduction to numbers and letters. Extra activities include events such as Teddy Bear Day and a Pow-Wow.

All ages also get to take advantage of the outdoor space which includes a playscape and pirate ship.

The Paul Mellon Arts Center, located on the campus of Choate Rosemary Hall, was designed by architect I.M. Pei. Among the marvels it houses are state-of-the-art studios for various mediums,  film studios and photography darkrooms, a recital hall and an 800-seat theatre with a proscenium (archway) stage.

Performances, both guest and student productions, and exhibitions are held regularly. For schedule and ticket information, the box office is open from 1pm - 4pm daily.

Handicapped seating is available and must be reserved through the box office.

The facility serves as a high-stakes testing center for those pursuing higher educations, certifications and licenses.
