Stepney Elementary School offers education to more than 500 students in grades kindergarten through four. The school is a part of the Monroe Public School District. The school s curriculum includes mathematics, physical education and English. Masuk has been educating the town's high school population since it opened in 1958.

The school's rigorous curriculum includes honors and AP courses, and its young men and women are active in extracurricular activities, from music and drama to Masuk's competitive sports programs.

Joseph Kobza is the principal of Masuk. The school's mission statement is, "We empower all students to become life-long learners and productive citizens in a diverse society."

Since the high school was built it has undergone renovations, in 1977 and 2005. Masuk now has 80 classrooms, 10 computer labs and an auditorium that seats 500 people.

Saint Stephen Parish in Trumbull was filling up by the early 1970s and Reverend Walter W. Curtis of Bridgeport decided a new church was needed to accommodate the growing number of Catholic families moving to Monroe. On Dec. 12, 1973, Saint Jude Parish opened. It now has a parish that includes more than 2,400 local families.

Monroe completed construction on the town's third elementary school, Fawn Hollow in 1967. Fawn Hollow's principal, Rebecca Kosisko and her staff taught children in grades K-4 this year, but will add another grade next fall, when each of the town's elementary schools adds fifth grade.
