The Newtown United Methodist Church has operated in the community for nearly 200 years. It is part of the Connecticut Central District of the United Methodist Church.
The Newtown church offers Sunday worship service and adult Bible study.
Adjacent to the church and sharing the same parking lot is the Wesley Learning Center, which offers a non-sectarian curriculum program for 3- and 4-year-old children as well as pre-kindergarten and kindergarten programs for 4- and 5-year-olds. Some extended day programs also are available.
The church offers Sunday worship service and Eucharist. Since 1958, the church has hosted an annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. It also houses the Food Assistance Immediate Temporary Help (FAITH) program, which offers emergency food service to Newtown residents. The 20-year program is designed to help residents who don't qualify for social service programs but need help with groceries.
Faith at Newtown is a Christian church that is led by Pastor Tim. It hosts a weekly worship service every Sunday morning.
