Hancock Elementary School, also known as Winfield Scott Hancock Elementary School, is located on Hancock Street in Norristown. Constructed in 1962, the school has approximately 330 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through fourth; 75 percent of the students live within walking distance to the school.
Montgomery County Head Start is a pre-school program for low-income families with children between the ages of three and five years old. Operated by local agencies, this Head Start is located on West Marshall Street in Norristown. The friendly staff members pride themselves in getting involved with families, working with parents and teaching them parenting skills. This reinforces Head Start's goal, which is to assist children in growing mentally, socially, emotionally and physically. This is the administrative office for the Methacton School District, the public school district that serves the townships of Worcester and Lower Providence. The district operates Methacton High School, Arcola Intermediate School, Skyview Upper Elementary School, and Arrowhead, Eagleville, Audubon, Worcester and Woodland elementary schools. The office is located in the Farina Education Center.
