Sammye E. Coan Middle School in Atlanta's Edgewood neighborhood is part of the Confucius Institute where students are immersed in Chinese culture and are taught Manadarin. The program, a partnership of Emory University, the Atlanta Public Schools and Nanjing University in China's Jiangsu Province, is in its fourth year at Coan.
Fort Daniel Elementary School is located on 21 acres near the site of an early 1800s military fort. Stephenson High School's five-acre campus was built in 1996. The high school is one of the largest in DeKalb County.
The school has an outdoor classroom, where students get experience and instruction in botany, horticulture and landscaping. Stephenson also has a theatre with an orchestra pit and a pipe organ.
Stephenson offers media production and broadcasting classes as part of its curriculum.
