Quite simply, the Boston Celtics are the Franchise, Celtics Green is the color, and the winking leprechaun that serves as the teams logo symbolizes five decades of NBA tradition. Formed in 1946, Boston is a charter member of the Basketball Association of America that later evolved into the NBA. Boston flies more title banners from the rafters of its home arena than any other franchise with a record 16 NBA championships, 8 in a row from 1959-1966 and three in the 1980s. Celtic legends include Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parrish and Walter Brown. The Celtics play at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston.
