Founded more than 30 years ago, Westport's Academy of Dance offers dance instruction in ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and modern dance. The facility includes a large, airy dance studio on the upper floor and two smaller downstairs studios. The studio is managed by Nancy Zindell, a former Academy of Dance student. Zindell has operated the studio since 2006.
Registration and class level is based on experience. Tuition fee is $650 for one class per week. The academy's annual student performance of The Nutcracker has become a holiday tradition in the Westport community.
Saint Luke Catholic Church was established in 1957. Monsignor Andrew G. Varga leads the congregation, and Leon Bernard is the Minister of Music. The church's offices are located in a historic home on the hill overlooking the church complex. Besides offering Mass and other church services, Saint Luke is active in community outreach and social justice activities.
