The park was known as Wolf Hill Park until Terry Farrell, a 28-year veteran firefighter who tragically lost his life on September 11th, was honored on Saturday, June 29, 2002.

Terry Farrell perished in the World Trade Center. He was a former Assistant Chief of the Dix Hills Fire Department and member of FDNY Rescue #4.
