Thanks to a broad base of financial support from the faith community, and the volunteer help of doctors, nurses, dentists and others, Church Health has grown to become the largest faith-based healthcare organization of its type in the country. Currently, we care for more than 58,000 patients of record without relying on government funding. Fees are charged on a sliding scale based on income. The average visit costs about $25.

Presbyterian Day School, founded in 1949 as a mission of Second Presbyterian Church, offers learning opportunities for boys in prekindergarten through grade six. It is one of the largest elementary schools for boys in the United States and has an enrollment of more than 600 students. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Presbyterian Day School is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, Southern Association of Independent Schools, Tennessee Association of Independent Schools and Memphis Association of Independent Schools. They constructed the current building at Central and Greer in 1948, under the leadership of The Rev. Alfred "Tib" Loaring-Clark. Saint Johns first rector, The Rev. Loaring Clark, and his successor, The Rev. Wallace M. "Penny" Pennepacker, led the church for a combined 57 years and grew it into a large congregation in what is now known as the University District.In more recent years, Saint Johns has become a place for growing families, community engagement, and spiritual healing.
