At this storefront, neighborhood pizzeria, patrons can scarf down a slice at a table inside or take a seat outside at a ledge lined with bar stools. Open since 1967, Joe's serves an array of pies and grinders, pastas, entrees and salads. The pizzeria now features gluten free entrees.
Sole serves Northern Italian cuisine and features a dining room that curves around the food preparation area, so diners can see their meals being made. The spacious dining room is nice for groups, while the bar area appeals to couples.
Located in the wooded outskirts of New Canaan, this deli and cafe offers sandwiches, salads and desserts. The restaurant is located in a large, red converted home across from the Silvermine Guild Arts Center. A small parking lot is available in front of the market.
Pinocchio Pizza is best known for winning a gold medal for best pizza maker at an invitation-only international competition of more than 800 pizza makers held in Salsomaggiore, Italy, in 2009. "It's a real honor," said Dino DiFabio who, along with his brother Bruno, owns the pizzeria. The shop has been open in New Canaan for six years and in its current location for three, but the brothers DiFabio are fourth generation pizza makers. The secret to a world-championship pizza? "Love and attention," Dino DiFabio says. "Really caring about the pizza is the secret."
Since 1986, charismatic owner Santo Silvestro has been running the Vegetable Barn & Deli, the oldest deli in New Canaan. He prides himself on his business' quick and efficient service, described by Silvestro as "easy in and easy out." The Vegetable Barn & Deli only accepts cash, but an ATM is located inside the store.
New Canaan Pizza was established in 1973 by current owner Tom Romas' great uncle. Romas bought the pizzeria in 1981. Specialties at the shop include pan pizza, a trademark of pizzerias with Greek influence.
