the art place - mountain view is a program and a building created just for the arts. Upon leasing and converting a restaurant to an arts center in 1986, the county soon discovered the need and desire for arts programs in East Cobb. The Steeple House Arts Center opened its doors in January of 1987. This facility was located at the corner of Johnson Ferry and Paper Mill Roads. Within three years the response to the programming in this facility gave the county officials the direction needed to build a building just for the arts. the art place - mountain view is the result of a dream and the undying participation in the arts from East Cobb Community. As the first coordinator of The Art Place, it holds a special place in my heart. I love the possibilities of this building, its programs and the people who make the programs happen. Dont be afraid to suggest something new. the art place is all about creation.... Or the process of art. Without the patrons, we, the staff, would just create what we like. Think about where you would like to see your arts program go and then work with a staff member to make it happen. Thats how we began in 1986. I think that process has proven to be very successful. I am so glad you are visiting our site and hopefully you will be here in person at the art place - mt. view soon. I have been here since 1994 as a teacher, full time Art Specialist and now the Coordinator. I cant imagine working anywhere else! For those of you who are not aware this facility is tax supported and part of Cobb County Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. We are grateful to have a county government and citizens that support us each and every day. Our art center has something for everyone: from the 3 month old in music and movement classes to the older adult wanting to take one of our many visual art classes. Please view the links to classes and camps, opportunities to see productions, registration information, and free outdoor concerts for families. Find out about shows and auditions being done by Centerstage North and Curtain Call Youth Players by clicking on their site links. Volunteer with MVAA and see our shows for free!! Pleas e visit our site often for seasonal events and changes in opportunities for families and friends.
