Pikeville Medical Center is a more than 250-bed health care facility located in Pikeville, Ky. The center is spread over an area of more than 500,000 square feet and has over 1,000 employees. It has more than 15 intensive care unit beds and operating suites. The center provides emergency medical services 24 hours, seven days a week, ambulance and helicopter transportation, pediatric transitional care unit for sick children requiring close monitoring or stabilization, diabetes education and laboratory services. Its neurosurgery program offers diagnosis and treatment for trauma and neurological problems relating to the brain, neck and spine. Pikeville Medical Center is approved by the College of American Pathologists, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Kentucky Medical Association and American Diabetes Association Certification for Diabetes Education.
