Operational since 1989, Northwoods Living offers a range of services for adults with disabilities. The agency, also known as NWL, provides home and community-based services for people with mental retardation. It offers support services for the development of daily living, domestic and personal care skills. The agency also provides community integration activities. Additionally, Northwoods Living offers a day program that includes training for adults with disabilities through productive work, such as the shredding of confidential documents. Its programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Northwoods Living is a member of the Iowa Association of Community Providers.
