Founded in 1846, The Associated Press is one of the largest news organizations in the world. It is a nonprofit, cooperative organization that serves several daily newspapers, radio stations and television channels. The organization maintains a staff of more than 4,000 employees. The Associated Press offers news and photographs, as well as graphics, audio and video products to several domestic members, international subscribers and commercial customers. It provides international, national, state, sports, business and entertainment news in various languages. The organization serves more than 500 newsrooms, portals, and Web, broadband and mobile customers throughout the world. The Associated Press maintains a division, AP Digital, which serves various Web sites, wireless operators, information distributors, and corporate and government desktops.
