Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is owned by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and operated by the Bartow-Pell Conservancy. The site was built between 1836 and 1842 and epitomizes country life in the area during the 19th century. It was opened as a museum in 1946, offering visitors of all ages a look into a distinct time period through its landscape, gardens and the mansion itself. The site is the last remaining country house in the area, offering visitors a chance to see Greek Revival interiors and a collection of paintings, furniture and decorative art from the period. Classes, tours and public programs are offered to children and adults. The museum also offers two spaces for private events and meetings and a backdrop that can be used for commercial photography. Bronx Council on the Arts ( BCA ) is celebrating over 45 years as a private, non-profit membership organization that is the official cultural agency of Bronx County. Recognized nationally as a leading arts service organization in providing cultural services and arts programs, BCA serves a multicultural constituency in excess of 1.2 million residents. BCA provides an array of services to 5, 000 artists and more than 250 arts and community-based organizations. Cultural Services Basic cultural services include direct financial support to individual artists and non-profit organizations, information services, technical assistance, education and community programming, advocacy and the operation of our Longwood Arts Project, an exhibition gallery and cyber arts program, and the Bronx Writers Center, an initiative dedicated to the creative and professional development of our writers. BCA provides cutting edge programming in arts education and cultural strategies to help revitalize local communities. It designs and implements programs that focus attention on issues of concern to Bronx residents including: job training, financial stabilization, independent contracting, business startups, environmental concerns, and health related issues. BCA actively develops partnerships with the private sector, educational institutions, social service agencies and community organizations for program support. Arts and education services and programs are available for children enrolled in Bronx public schools. The Bronx WritersCorp is a group of writers working with schools, art centers and community groups to help promote literacy. Local partnerships and collaborations are encouraged.

Bronx Museum of the Arts, founded in 1971, is a contemporary art institution dedicated to serving its neighborhood and city, as well as the international art world. The museum offers visual arts through its permanent collection, exhibitions and educational programs. The collection offered includes 20th and 21st century artists of African, Asian and Latin American descent. The museum offers on-site and off-site after school programs on a regular basis. It allows students to explore a range of contemporary art practices, such as new media, animation, installation, architecture and design through organizing exhibition-related and theme-based projects. The interpretive art program at the Bronx Museum provides analytical and hands-on interactive experiences with contemporary art to students from grades kindergarten through 12. The New York Botanical Garden, founded in 1891 and located in Bronx, N.Y., has one of the largest collections of plants. It features a plant museum, educational center for gardening and horticulture, and is an international center for plant research. The center has indoors and outdoors science museum for kids, and more than 50 gardens and plant collections centers in over 250-acre national historic landmark site. The garden has natural terrain of botanical gardens, including dramatic rock outcroppings, river and waterfall, rolling hills, ponds, and more than 50 acres of forest land. It additionally features a variety of historic buildings on the garden grounds, such as the Snuff Mill, landmark, library building, and the Stone Cottage.
