Located in South Bend, Ind., Northern Indiana Center for History is a more than 38-room Victorian mansion, featuring a cottage reflecting the 1930s, a gallery that chronicles local history, a gallery of Notre Dame history, a childrens museum and various exhibitions. The center collects, preserves, interprets, exhibits and teaches the heritage of northern Indiana and its diverse populations for present and future generations. The center features the Workers Home that function s as an educational tool and provides an opportunity for students and families to learn about life during the 1930s. Its Voyages Gallery features more than six rooms of life-like dioramas and interactive displays. It additionally features the Kidsfirst Children s Museum and Ernestine M. Raclin Gallery of Notre Dame History. The museum houses the All American Girls Professional Baseball League collection, and its Vincent Bendix Research Librarys archival collections include photographs, architectural drawings and blueprints, ethnic papers and documents, newspapers, scrapbooks, military records, bound volumes, and audio, video and film footage.
