Mt. Zion United Methodist Church is one of the oldest churches in Leesburg and its story is rich in history. The Mt. Zion United Methodist congregation was started in 1766 when slaves worshipped in Leesburg. By 1851, the Methodists were divided because of slavery and the church became Northern Methodist with a congregation that was mostly African-American. In 1867, African-American Methodists built the church on North Street with donations. The current church, although remodeled, is the same building from 1867.
Evergreen United Methodist Church values staying young at heart, which Pastor Chip Giessler takes seriously by coaching youth soccer and hiking in Balls Bluff battlefield. This congregation meets at Loudoun Country Day School for Sunday worship at 10 a.m.
Leesburg United Methodist Church has a longstanding history, as it was established in Loudoun County in 1766. The current church was built in 1852 and is led by Rev. James Wishmyer. The church still follows founder John Wesley's teachings.
There are ministry programs for men, women, youth, children and seniors. Leesburg United also has an on-site preschool center. Music and drama programs are available as are children's music and adult choir.
