Michael Messina, PsyD, is a compassionate clinical psychologist who takes an approach called cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients lead healthier, more productive lives. He works with children, adolescents, and adults with emotional and behavior problems at his private practice, Dr. Messina & Associates, in Southlake, Texas. Dr. Messina has a thoughtful, sincere approach to therapy. He specializes in treating problems like anxiety disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and associated issues in relationships. He also treats child behavior problems, such as oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He collaborates with psychiatrists, dietitians, and other professionals to ensure his patients receive the most appropriate care. Originally from Southern California, Dr. Messina started his career as a pastor, and then earned his Doctorate in Psychology from Alliant International University, San Diego. He also completed a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy. Dr. Messina is a licensed psychologist in Texas and California as well as a national doctoral-level board-certified behavior analyst. In addition to working with patients, Dr. Messina holds an Assistant Professor rank at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, in the Department of Medical Education in the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has spoken at several universities, has provided many community and organizational trainings and lectures, and was recently featured on Business Talk Radio and the CBS show, "The Doctors”.
