Established in 2005, Leon Medical Centers Health Plans is a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) with a Medicare Advantage contract. It has an exclusive relationship with Leon Medical Centers, a family owned and operated business. Leon Medical Centers Health Plans meets the needs of the Hispanic community in the Miami-Dade County and those of the Medicare patients of Leon Medical Centers. It serves the elderly and disabled population by providing comprehensive health plans. In 2007, Leon Medical Centers Health Plans partnered with publicly traded HealthSpring Inc., one of the largest managed care organizations in the United States with primary focus on the Medicare Advantage market.
