Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) is a health insurance company. It is a nonprofit corporation and independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan operates more than 40 fund-free community clinics that serve over 90,000 patients. It has partnerships with state and local government organizations and health care professionals and organizations. The agency s MIChild program offers health and dental coverage for nearly 32,000 uninsured children of working families. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan also provides mental health services, as well as prescription assistance programs. Its Alliance for Advancing Nonprofit Health Care offers advocacy, public education and research solutions for various other nonprofit and health care organizations.
