The story of Enstrom Candies begins with a hobby and a man named Chet. At the age of 14, Chet Enstrom got his start in the candy business when he went to work as a soda jerk at an ice cream and candy factory in Colorado Springs, Colo. Between scoops of ice cream, Chet kept an eye on the confectioners as they plied their trade, and quietly learned the candy craftsmans art. In 1929, shortly after marrying, he and a partner opened the Velvet Ice Cream Company, a business he pursued for the next 30 years. Meanwhile, Chet also pursued his favorite hobby: hand-crafting Almond Toffee. By 1960, his Almond Toffee had begun to develop a reputation, and at the urging of family and friends, Chet founded Enstrom Candies. Currently, the company manufactures and distributes a line of toffee, chocolates, baskets, ice cream and seasonal specials.
