The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of Texas judicial branch. It educates the public on the American system of justice and the role of judges and lawyers in the system. It also supports lawyers in providing legal and community services. The agency has a law-related education department that specializes in curriculum development for elementary, middle and high school students. The department also sponsors several conferences and programs for teachers. The State Bar of Texas manages Lawyer Referral Information Service, which helps Texans in finding lawyers to represent legal issues. Its public information department serves media professionals and provides information related to Texas lawyers. The agency publishes books, practice manuals and legal forms through TexasBarBooks. The State Bar of Texas administers the Texas Young Lawyers Association, which as more than 23,000 members.
