The Mission of Indiana District is to encourage and assist the Christian outreach and nurture of its congregations and other ministries. Indiana District is one of 35 districts of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The District consists of member congregations from the entire state of Indiana and 37 counties in Kentucky. The administrative offices of Indiana District are located in Fort Wayne. The District was originally organized in 1854 as the Central District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. In 1960 the Central District divided into the Ohio District and Indiana District. Indiana District is organized into four regions with each region having up to eight circuits and each circuit consisting of up to 14 congregations. Pastors, teachers and lay people on the various Councils and the Board of Directors represent each region of Indiana District. Currently there are three councils that are elected every three years by the district in convention. These councils are Outreach, Services and Resources. The convention also elects the offices of the President, Regional Vice Presidents, Treasurer and Secretary, the Board of Directors and several other committees. Indiana District also operates the Church Resource and Supply Center located in the district offices. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
