The Briggs Lawrence County Public Library, located in Ironton, Ohio, offers a wide variety of programs for adults, children, teenagers and seniors. It offers homework helpers, study tips, summer reading club, and new books and CDs for children. The library offers a wide variety of outreach services, including programming at Lawrence Countys assisted living facilities, county fairs and festivals, talking book program and homebound services. It offers programming and delivery of books and other materials bimonthly to a wide variety of assisted living facilities in the county, including Bryant Health Center, Christen House, Harriet Lewis Building, Heartland of Riverview, Pulley Care Center, Jo-Lin Health Center, and Sunset Nursing Home. Library History The library was founded in 1939, as Pike County Free Public Library. The first librarian was Miss Madison Irwin. From 1939 to 1978, the library was part of the Waverly High School. In 1978, the library was moved to North High Street in Waverly. Finally, in 1985 library was moved to its present loaction at 207 North Market Street in Waverly. The librarys present location was a generous gift of J.B. Wilson. Mr. Wilson requested that the library be known as the Garnet A. Wilson Public Library of Pike County, in honor of his wife. Since then, the library has flourished, with the additon of branches in Beaver, Piketon, and Western Pike County. Please inform the library circulation staff if you change your name, address, telephone number, or if your card is lost or stolen. Circulation of Library Materials Most of the librarys print materials circulate for 28 days. New books circulate for 14 days. Videos & DVDs have loan periods of 5 days and 7 days (for educational videos ).
