The Walter Royal Davis Library is the central library for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is the largest and most comprehensive library on campus and the major research facility for the humanities and social sciences. The library encompasses more than 400,000 square feet and provides seating for 2,000 users in addition to carrels for 1,000 readers. The Walter Royal Davis Library s holdings include more than 2,500,000 volumes, 2,000,000 printed government documents, over 3,000,000 microforms and thousands of electronic titles. With 100-plus public computers, a computer lab, 24 group study rooms, two high-tech instructional labs and in excess of 2,300 Internet connections and wireless communications throughout, Davis Library is among the most intensively computerized and technologically advanced libraries in the world. It also has a collaboratory where library staff members assist faculty in integrating digital resources into their Web-based teaching and research projects. The library also provides laptop computers that students and faculty can checkout for three-hour periods. It is open 100 hours a week. The Walter Royal Davis Library is located in Chapel Hill, N.C.
