The WBTPL reopened its expanded Westacres library in 2001 and is governed by an elected six-member Board of Trustees. The current President of the board is Ken Macon.

Twenty computer workstations — including Microsoft Office software, Internet access, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM drives — are available to use along with desks wired for internet access. Cubbyholes filled with books and stuffed toys, Reading House, and light-up panels are popular attractions for young visitors. The Friends' Terrace is an inviting space for warm weather reading and relaxation, while fireplaces inside keep even the coldest readers warm.
The Library offers patrons a classic sports bar experience, along with a few extras. The restaurant is peppered with plasma televisions to ensure that whatever sporting event is on TV will be available for the viewing pleasure of the diners. For listening pleasure, the Pub also provides live music and dancing on select weekends. As the name "pub" suggests, it also boasts an extensive beer menu and is a certified "Distinguished Master Draught Retailer."
The Bloomfield Township Public Library - Westacres Branch is one of two public libraries in the Bloomfield Township Public Library system. This location includes a children’s activity room, patron self-check-out service, laptop computer access to the library’s computer network and a number of books, other types of literature and various forms of media available for borrow.
