The MIT Libraries is a group of libraries that are owned and operated by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which is an independent, coeducational and privately endowed institute. The MIT Libraries support various study and research programs of the institute. The group comprises of libraries for engineering, humanities, science, management, social science, and architecture and planning subjects. The libraries collection includes more than 2.6 million printed volumes, over 17,000 current journal subscriptions and nearly 475 online databases. The group also provides microforms, maps, images, musical scores and videotapes. It offers Ex Libris Aleph system, which is a Web-based catalog. Additionally, the MIT Libraries are members of the Association of Research Libraries, Boston Library Consortium, Coalition of Networked Information and Online Computer Library Center. The group maintains a location in Cambridge, Mass.
