Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, also known as TRLA, is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services to low-income and disadvantaged residents of central, southern and western Texas. It serves more than 60 counties in the United States and Mexico. The organization focuses on promoting the self-sufficiency, safety and stability of individuals and families. Texas RioGrande Legal Aid offers a range of legal and related educational services. It maintains a staff of more than 100 lawyers and over 50 paralegals and social workers. The organization operates nearly 10 offices. Established in 1970, Texas RioGrande Legal Aid s practice areas include real estate, consumer, elder and tax law. It also provides legal services in the areas of human trafficking, labor and employment, housing issues, individual rights, public benefits, and domestic and family violence.
