Established in 1981, Diablo Hills Country School is a family-operated preschool in a home-like setting.
With two locations, one in San Ramon and one in Danville, the school offers preschool classes for children ages 2 through 5 as well as before and after-school care.
Staples of this program include developmentally structured activities and small, home-like class rooms, low student-to-teacher ratios, hot lunches and transportation to and from local elementary schools. It is fully licensed by the state of California and has received several awards for its services, among them the PACE Child Care Center of the Year award in 2006.
Neil Armstrong Elementary School was established in 1969. The school has been recognized for achievement as a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School.
Here is its vision statement:
"Neil Armstrong's vision is to promote collaboration between staff, parents, and students to achieve academic excellence. We strive to create a safe environment, which fosters the development of responsible, caring students who are lifelong learners that are prepared to meet the challenges of a culturally diverse society."
There are 540 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Home of the Eagles, the school serves the community south of Montevideo Drive and southeast of Interstate 680 in San Ramon.
Lorna Monteith is the principal.
Support organizations include the PTA, whose president is Vanessa Berastain, and the Neil Armstrong Academic Boosters, a volunteer group of parents who do fundraising for educational programs.
