Los Alisos Intermediate school is a public school that teaches grades seven and eight. The school has an outstanding honors program which challenges students to better themselves academically. La Paz Intermediate School provides educational services to more than 1,100 students in grades seven and eight. The school conducts classes in math, language arts, life science, world history and physical education. It offers the English Language Learners program. It organizes field trips to several educational and cultural destinations in the community. La Paz Intermediate School also operates a student council. The school offers a foreign language course in Spanish. It has a student-teacher-parent organization that conducts several fundraising activities and special events, including musical programs and sports tournaments. In addition, it offers a range of activities in drama, art, keyboarding and music. The school provides food, medical care and guidance counseling. Located in Mission Viejo, Calif., La Paz Intermediate School is a part of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District.

Newhart Middle School offers many programs not common in this day and age. It has wood shop classes and a home economics program, and its music program has been nationally recognized. Another program at Newhart helps new English speakers learn the language.

A product of the Capistrano Unified School District, and having attended San Juan Elementary, Marco Forster Middle School and graduating Capistrano Valley High School, Jeff Jones will begin his first year at Newhart as Principal in the 2010-11 year.

The school is able to use the city of Mission Viejo's nearby baseball, basketball and soccer fields for physical education. The school's mascot is the panther.

Carl Hankey is a kindergarten through eighth grade school. The middle schoolers are separated from the elementary students. Carl Hankey offers an International Baccalaureate program which feeds into Capistrano Valley High School's IB program. Besides teaching the California standards, it also focuses on foreign language and technology. The program is self funded by parents and a grant from British Petroleum. The school mascot is the hawk. Carl Hankey, an orange rancher, was a school board member for many years and the unofficial weatherman in San Juan Capistrano.

Silverado High School is an accredited continuation high school offering students an opportunity to get back on path with academics. The coursework is slightly altered to better help those who are struggling in specific areas, however still abide by state and district guidelines. The California Department of Education and California Continuation High School Association has made Silverado a "model school."
