St. Ignatius of Loyola Elementary School is a Catholic kindergarten through eighth grade school located in Highland Park. It is connected to St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church on Monte Vista Street. Students at the school have the opportunity to play on sports teams year round, join extracurricular clubs and participate in service opportunities in the community.
This is by far the largest, most historic and accomplished public school not just in Eagle Rock but far beyond, making it one of the jewels of the Los Angeles Unified School District education system. Eagle Rock High School includes both a junior high and senior high curriculum, with a magnet program for gifted and high ability children in grades 7 through 9. The school was ranked by Newsweek magazine as being among the top 6 percent of public schools nationwide in 2009 and 2010.
