The United Nations Children's Fund first formed in 1946 to help impoverished children suffering in the aftermath of World War II. Relying on government contributions as well as private donors, today UNICEF is a multi-billion-dollar organization dedicated to the health and well-being of children all over the world. Now reaching more than 150 countries, UNICEF's vast network provides emergency assistance against the effects of war, natural disaster and infectious disease. The organization is headquartered in New York but relies on regional offices for grassroots support. The New England Regional Office coordinates with local businesses and other groups to organize fund-raising and awareness events, connecting local leadership and humanitarianism to international issues.

Massachusetts Peace Action is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to develop the sustained political power to foster a more just and peaceful U.S. foreign policy. Through grassroots organizing, policy advocacy, and community education, we promote human rights and global cooperation, seek an end to war and the spread of nuclear weapons, and support budget priorities that re-direct excessive military spending to meeting human and environmental needs in our communities. We are an affiliate of Peace Action, the nations largest grassroots peace and disarmament membership organization, with more than 100, 000 members and 30 chapters across the country. Mobilize our members to become active advocates for peace and justice issues with their elected officials and within their communities Make peace a priority in all elections at all levels by educating voters and candidates on just and peaceful foreign policy options
