Habitat for Humanity East Bay was founded in 1988 as an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Located in Oakland, Calif., Habitat for Humanity East Bay offers homeownership opportunities for families with limited income. It provides single-family homes for the residents of Alameda and Contra Costa counties in California. The organization also conducts workshops on budgeting, credit repair, conflict resolution, home maintenance and landscaping. Its housing programs are funded by individuals, corporations, foundations and faith organizations. Habitat for Humanity East Bay constructs one-, two- and three-bedroom homes that feature energy-efficient fixtures and appliances. It additionally works with the College Access Foundation of California and provides scholarship programs for youths.
