The Calcasieu Association for Retarded Citizens, founded in 1954, is a nonprofit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities and their families. The organization offers residential, child development, vocational and community employment services. It provides work opportunities, such as sheltered workshops and supervised working crews for more than 150 clients. The Calcasieu Association for Retarded Citizens offers services for Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jefferson Davis parishes in Louisiana. The organization s clients prepare buttons, yard signs and cans. In addition, it provides educational opportunities for children with special needs. The organization s community services department offer attendant and long-term personal care options. The Calcasieu Association for Retarded Citizens manages over five community homes.
