Established in 1975, the Area Agency on Aging provides a range of long-term care services for senior citizens. It offers in-home services through a care management staff. The agency has an Older Adult Protective Service Unit, which provides 24-hour services for senior citizens. The Area Agency on Aging also offers legal consultation, police protection, counseling, health care treatment, emergency and financial management services. In addition, it provides nursing and personal care services. The agency also offers services for people with mental retardation and illnesses. The Area Agency on Aging additionally provides transportation, home support and shopping assistance services. It has senior centers for instructional and personal enrichment classes.
