The University of Alabama Student Health Center, based in Tuscaloosa, Ala., is a provider of medical services to students and their spouses. The universitys insurance plan pays 100 percent of covered medical expenses when students receive treatment at the health center. The students spouses are not automatically eligible to receive health center services, and married students are informed to contact the center to enroll their spouses for services. The center does not provide services for children. There is a copay charge for generic-brand medicine that is purchased at the health center pharmacy. There is also a copay for name-brand medicines bought at the health center. The center is a facility of the University of Alabama, a student-centered research university founded in 1831.
