Rural Cap Head Start is an early childhood learning and development program. It is comprehensive child development program that serves children in the age groups of three to five and their families and prepares children for kindergarten. The program is a part of Rural Alaska Community Action Program Inc., one of the largest and most diversified community service organizations in Alaska. Founded in 1965, it is a statewide, community service agency, working to provide welfare service for low-income Alaskan individuals and families. The organization s services/programs include early start, Anchorage Homeless Outreach Project and Parents as Teachers program, to name a few.

Founded in 1987, Kids Corps is a nonprofit organization that provides the Head Start program to children and their families in Alaska. The company owns and leases more than five child service centers that include East Center, Davis Center, South Center, Mount View Center and Muldoon Center. Kids Corps serves over 335 children. It is governed by a board of directors, policy council and various advisory committees that is composed of community members, staff and parents of Head Start s children. Kids Corps has a staff of nearly 65 employees. It has partnerships with the community to assure a comprehensive system of family-centered services.
