John Swazye Theatre is performing arts venue located at The New School of Northern Virginia in Fairfax. Music & Arts at Providence offers a diverse array of highest quality sacred and secular vocal and instrumental classical music programs from September to June each year. The Providence Presbyterian Church sanctuary, featuring the Lively-Fulcher tracker pipe organ and superb acoustics, serves as the concert stage. George Mason University's Center for the Arts is a performance art venue. The center offers musical and theatrical summer camps and workshops for individuals of all ages. It also hosts music, dance and live theater performances throughout the year. The center is available to rent for private functions.
The 460 seat Harris Theatre is a modified proscenium thrust style theatre with an intimate feel.
It is located on the campus of George Mason University near the Center for the Arts, just northeast of Mason Pond Parking Deck,
The orchestra and balcony levels of Harris Theatre have separate entrances allowing the balcony to be closed when not required. There are 343 orchestra level seats
with additional space for 11 wheelchairs, and 117 balcony level seats. The balcony is accessible by staircase only.
The acoustical nature of the room lends itself well to both speaking events and music recitals. The venue has been used by various recording studios looking for a “live” sounding room for marching and concert band music. Additionally, the theatre is used regularly for both dance and theatrical productions.
For an hourly fee, the Sandy Creek and Mason Pond Visitor Parking Decks offer covered parking and a walkway to both the Concert Hall and Harris Theater.
Free parking is only available in Lot K (located directly across the pond from the Concert Hall).
Located adjacent to Van Dyck Park, the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center is a 14,330-square-foot building designated for community events. The center hosts cultural activities, adult and youth recreation programs and art-related activities. It can also be rented for private functions of any size.
Sterling Conservatory of Music is a private music school that offers lessons in piano, music theory and musicology. It serves students throughout the D.C. area. The school accepts students of all ages and abilities. It includes many styles in its teachings including classical piano, composition, jazz fundamentals, improvisation and songwriting.
