Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort is an entergamement complex situated on the Ohio River in West Virginia. Established in 1951 as a horseracing venue, Mountaineer historically focused its operations on parimutuel wagering and related amenities. Following the 1995 passage of the Lottery Act, the company has repositioned the facility as a gaming destination resort and diversified entertainment facility. The company has substantially renovated and expanded Mountaineer, and has incrementally increased the number of slot machines as legislative developments either permitted or made their operation more profitable. The resort encompasses approximately 3,220 slot machines, a year-round thoroughbred racetrack with import and export simulcasting, nearly 360 hotel rooms, a spa, fitness center, golf course, fine dining and entertainment, a 69,000 square foot theater and events center and a 39,000 square foot convention center. Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort is located in Chester, W.Va.
