Helix barbershop history here that goes back more than 40 years. Past clientele include doctors from Grossmont Hospital, and late former Chargers head coach Don Coryell, according to one senior barber, Vince. Most of his clients have been coming for 25 years or more. The atmosphere in the shop is so friendly, that on days when "the ladies," hairstylists Mae and Lynn, are in, the scene is a party.
Super Brows is located in Grossmont Center and specializes in the latest trend of threading for eyebrow shaping and facial hair removal. Threading is an ancient technique from India that involves rolling twisted cotton thread over the skin to pluck out unwanted hair. The procedure is said to be less painful than waxing or tweezing, and doesn't produce ingrown hairs or make the skin red or irritated. The salon also offers temporary henna tattoos, which last 15 - 20 days. Walk-ins are welcome, but you can also call ahead for an appointment.
