The Department of Public Works is a part of the Douglas County. Based in Lawrence, Kan., the department performs engineering and administrative functions for the department. Its engineering division performs engineering design of road and bridge projects, plan review, construction inspection, surveying and permit processing for entrances, oversize loads, utility installations and subdivision road construction. The Department of Public Works also provides design consulting service for public local and collector roads within rural Douglas County, Kansas.
